Slip and Fall/Premises Liability

Not only is slipping and falling embarrassing, it can also be painful and very costly - especially, if the injuries are serious and require extensive medical treatment.

Falls are the leading cause of unintentional injuries in the United States, according to the U.S. National Center for Injury Prevention and Control.  There were close to 8 million fall injuries reported in 2006.  Some slip and fall accidents are caused by our own carelessness, but other times another party is at fault.  Property owners can not always be held liable for slip and fall incidents that occurred on their premises.  However, they do have the responsibility to do what is possible to prevent such accidents by keeping up the property and eliminating potential fall hazards.  If you have tripped or fallen in a grocery store, shopping mall, workplace, retail outlet, parking lot or other location, you should seek legal advice immediately to help you determine who was at fault.  Contact Steven F. Reilly, PC, located in Norristown, Pennsylvania, to review your premises liability case.

Steve Reilly, a Pennsylvania slip and fall attorney, has years of experience in premises liability litigation.  He aggressively pursues compensation for his clients who have been injured and is not paid unless the cases are won.  Steve previously worked as a defense attorney and knows how defense lawyers and insurance companies evaluate and defend their cases.  Since 2000, he has been representing injured victims and uses his knowledge to help his clients receive the compensation they deserve. Steve limits the number of clients he represents so that he can give the time and resources necessary to each case.  He represents clients in the counties of Philadelphia, Delaware, Montgomery, Chester, Bucks and Berks.  Call the Law Office of Steven F. Reilly, PC at (610) 272-7075.

Slip and Fall/ Trip and Fall Claims
A slip and fall accident refers to an event in which an unsafe condition existed that caused someone to slip and fall or trip and fall. In order to have a claim against a property owner, you must be able to prove that there was some negligence. You may have a case if the owner or employees caused a spill or created an unsafe surface.  If the owner or employees knew about the slippery surface or fall hazard and did not correct the situation, then they can be held liable.  One way to determine a property owner’s liability is to ask the question, would a reasonable person have known and prevented the fall hazard on the property?

Injuries from a slip and fall or trip and fall accident can vary. Broken arms or legs, fractured hips and serious back injuries often result from these situations.  It is important that you get medical attention immediately after a slip and fall accident.  Retain a copy of your medical records relating to the injury as these will be useful in court.  In addition, write down every detail of the accident that you can remember.  Some of the specifics to recall include how the accident happened, where it occurred and who witnessed it.

The section of the Pennsylvania law that governs premises liability lawsuits requires that certain factors be met in order to have a valid claim. Steve Reilly will carefully review the details of your accident and will gather all of the necessary evidence to prove that the property owner was responsible.   He knows the local building codes that should be followed by businesses as well as the safety procedures that these establishments must abide by.  A successful claim can entitle you to a substantial settlement for your injuries.
